Heat again ruled out senior play on Saturday, with the juniors of section two and three picking up the slack with a pair of tight thrillers.
It couldn’t have been closer than in the lower-table contest between Girgarre and Kyvalley White, but the Girgarre side, desperate for its first win of the season, was denied by a single game 4-32 to 4-31.
Riley Gebbie did all he could for Girgarre claiming his singles 6-0 to give his side a boost.
Big victories were the theme of the match, but it was the closest rubber that would play a big part in the final score.
Kyvalley’s Caleb Greenshields and Kane Pyke went down to Jye Pratt and Cooper Gebbie, but managed to snag a 5-6 result, those five games proving critical in a tie of otherwise comprehensive wins.
In the top table clash, Kyvalley Red continued to roll towards the title, downing leading contender KLTC 5-43 to 3-32.
In contrast to the other matchup, most sets were close, with a couple of critical 6-2 wins swinging things Red’s way.
Tilly Forde and Byron Chapman each featured in two such results, Forde pairing with Paige Berner and Chapman getting it done in the singles, before the two teamed up for a third 6-2 win.
In division three, Kyvalley proved much too strong for Stanhope, sweeping to a five sets to none victory.
In the remaining match, the combined Kyvalley/KLTC squad got the best of KLTC Blues 3-2.
