With a finals’ appearance out of the question, the Roos looked to be competitive against a team that currently has just one blemish on an otherwise perfect season.
Unfortunately, the Kangaroos just couldn’t hack it.
Kicking just a sole goal in the opening quarter at Girgarre Recreation Reserve, the Grasshoppers nailed six majors to jut out to a big first quarter lead.
Holding the host to just one minor score in the second quarter, Murch ran rampant, opening up for 8.6 in the lead-up to half-time.
With the chasm between the two sides sitting at 87-points at the start of the second half, Girgarre still couldn’t find a way to break through, adding one more behind to its tally.
Things just kept getting worse for the Roos as the Grasshoppers continued to flex their premiership might with 4.5 to blow the lead out to triple figures.
Girgarre failed to add another goal to its score down the stretch, settling for a couple of minor scores as Murch (8.2) had the majority share of possession, leading to a thumping 1.4 (10) to 26.17 (173) loss for the Roos.
Ryan Butler was named best-on for Girgarre in the 163-point defeat, with Josh Temple kicking the only goal for his side.
Being one of just four sides in action in round 17, the Roos will travel to Rushworth to take on the Tigers for their last game of the season, having the final bye of the 2025 home-and-away season in round 18.
