Stanhope’s Jayke Fisher produced a deadly spell of bowling to guide his side to a fighting win over Nondies Cohuna in the GMC’s B grade second round of games on Saturday.

After Stanhope was bowled out for 83 in 24 overs Fisher came to the rescue with the ball, taking a match-winning 6/17 off eight overs as the visitors fell for 68.

In Stanhope’s innings Danyon Stockdale upstaged more recognised batsmen to top score with 29 in a disappointing scoreline triggered by Mitch Treacy with 5/23 off six overs and Peter Moore with 3/23 off eight overs.

Fire Brigade suffered a four-wicket loss to Echuca.

Only young opener Liam Francis offered any resistance with the bat, with a fighting 46, as the Flames were restricted to 8/105.

With Troy Kenny making an unbeaten 68 Echuca reached 6/108 to secure a four-wicket win.

Marcus Maher claimed 6/7 off 6.4 overs to set up an easy win for Moama against Colbinabbin.

Daniel Morgan with 15 was the only Colbo batsman to reach double figures as his team fell for 49 in 20.4 overs. Moama covered this score for the loss of only one wicket.

Rushworth cruised to a four-wicket win over Leitchville Gunbower, restrained to 6/104.

Openers David Baldwin (37) and Tom Stevens (29) shared an opening stand of 73 to lay the foundation for Rushworth’s final winning score of 6/115 with two overs to spare.

Tongala’s moderate score of 110, with Travis Johnstone top scoring with 32, was not enough to get it the points against Northern United, which reached 7/111 in reply in 28.4 overs.

Cooma came up well short against BLU, dismissed for just 45 in reply to the visitors’ 9/146.

Cooma was 4/1 and 5/12 before scrambling to 45, as Shannon Bish claimed 5/7 off six overs.

In a low-scoring clash in which only four batsmen reached double figures, Echuca South’s score of 70 was enough to get it the points against Rochester.

C GRADE

Fire Brigade’s Corey Carver and LBU’s Ben Reid produced dominant centuries, the first for the season in all grades, on Saturday.

Carver clubbed 102 in a winning Fire Brigade score of 4/228 against Rochester at Girgarre.

Carver’s innings included 15 fours and he shared a 135-run second-wicket stand with opener Cohan Hooper, who made 46. Kaleb Williams also got among the runs with an unbeaten 43.

Rochester was bowled out for 152 in reply.

LBU’s Ben Reid blasted an unbeaten 189 in a big win over Echuca South at the Echuca College Oval.

Reid clouted 21 sixes and 11 fours in LBU’s total of 6/272 off its 40 overs.

Echuca South replied with 6/147.

Tongala had an early day against Cooma, securing victory with the loss of only one wicket.

Opener Darcy Maloney with an unbeaten 31 and Luke Woolan with 23 not out steered Tongala to victory in 16.5 overs after dismissing Cooma for 60.

Girgarre put paid to Nondies Cohuna swiftly, covering the visitors’ score in 15.3 overs for the loss of three wickets.

Three-wicket hauls to Andrew Medhurst and Rylan Cunningham resulted in Nondies out in 27.5 overs for just 53.

John Hepburn with 44 helped Stanhope reach 165 but Echuca’s batsmen were up to the challenge, replying with 5/168 on the back of a half-century from Scott McCallum.

D GRADE

Fire Brigade’s batters mustered only 71 against Tongala but its bowlers hit back with the ball to dismiss the home side for just 57.

Chris Cleveland with 3/15 and Brendan Fleming and Ross Laurenson with two wickets each ripped through the Tongala batting order in 28.2 overs. Stewart Northausen with 23 tried hard, with little support, to get his side over the line.

Northausen also took 3/14 and with Jessie Johnstone with 5/21 off eight overs had given their side the chance to win the game.

Super veteran Peter Raglus batted through the Rushworth innings to make an unbeaten 37 of his team’s score of 9/84. But it wasn’t enough to save his side, with Echuca securing victory by seven wickets in 18 overs.

Echuca South had an easy win over BLU in the remaining game.
