Girgarre had a big win over Colbinabbin due to some deadly bowling from Anthony Anderson (4-14) and Jonathon Sherritt (5-12).
Girgarre posted 162, with opener Shaun Doolan top scoring with 43 before Anderson and Sherritt went to work to skittle Colbo for 56, of which more than half this score came from the bat of skipper and opener Fletcher Wild, who made 32.
Chasing Leitchville-Gunbower’s 8-176, Cooma could muster just 6-63 off its 40 overs, with Hunter Fawcett’s 14 the top score.
Opener Jayden Tucker’s knock of 48 helped Tongala to 116 against Echuca South, which made heavy work of its winning run chase, with just one wicket in hand went it got the winning runs.
Nondies Cohuna had a nine-wicket win over Rochester in the other game.
With teenager Lachlan Carver (36 not out) and Jarrod Chaman (39) showing the way Fire Brigade’s 6-151 proved well out of Stanhope’s reach, out for 78 with Steve Hall’s 33 the only notable contribution.
Rikki Busch lined up the 3s with his 3.2 overs, producing figures of 3-3 Elmore covered Rushworth’s 9-128 in 30 overs for the loss of two wickets, with opener James Harney making an unbeaten 94 with eight fours and two sixes.
Echuca and BLU were the other winners in this section over Goats and Moama, respectively.
C-GRADE
Fire Brigade took 24 overs to cover Girgarre’s score of 9-105, with opener Sam Vick with 42 showing the way.
But Girgarre’s Jake Tooley, with 4-20 off eight overs, made The Flames earn their win, losing seven wickets in their run chase.
Stanhope came up 10 runs short in its 176-run chase against Moama.
Opener Shannon Aynesly (36) and Jonathon Pearson (38) provided the bulk of the Stanhope score, and Aynesly also stepped up with the ball to take 4-45 in a top all-round performance.
D-GRADE
Cooma, with 8-146, held off Rushworth for a two-wicket win.
Kade Dearing scored a half-century for Rushworth, but Tyler Norman’s 31 helped to get Cooma over the line.
Stanhope could manage only 9-80 in reply to BLU’s 8-142 with Manojkumarchowdary Boddu’s 21 the top contribution.
Charlie Pekin, with 3-24, was the best of the Stanhope bowlers.
Echuca’s 7-174 was never challenged by the Fire Brigade batsmen, restricted to 9-118, of which Brendan Grealy’s 29 and Matt Schubach (26) were the best contributions.
