Local clubs will be well-represented in football and netball, with none more so than Lockington-Bamawm United and Mount Pleasant.
The Cats will have six teams playing in deciders across the two codes, while the Mounts have seen four of their lower-grade outfits reach the big dance.
Football
Reserves
Lockington’s reserves won a thrilling contest against Huntly to book their spot in the grand final, prevailing 9.9 (63) to 8.10 (58).
The Cats trailed by three points at three-quarter time, but produced a sensational final term to storm home, booting four goals to the Hawks’ two.
LBU spread its nine goals across seven players, with Brodie Collins and Jack Jansen being the only multiple goal-kickers with two each.
North Bendigo will be the side that awaits the Cats in the decider.
Under-18
Lockington was far too strong for White Hills, prevailing 14.6 (90) to 5.4 (34) in a dominant display that saw James Brentnall kick a whopping 10 goals.
The Cats will face Mount Pleasant in the grand final, the two sides resuming hostilities having only met each other in a qualifying final two weeks ago.
The Mounts were a touch better on that occasion, winning by 12 points in a well-fought contest.
Under-15
LBU will feature in each lower grade football grand final after its under-15s downed Heathcote 4.8 (32) to 2.6 (18).
Leitchville-Gunbower is the Cats’ opponent in the decider, the two sides having finished first and second, respectively, in the regular season.
Netball
A-reserve
Colbinabbin wasn’t able to follow its A-grade side in making the grand final, going down to North Bendigo by nine goals.
After a slow start that saw the Hoppers trail 20-13 at the first interval, they responded in the second period to cut the margin to just a single goal, 28-27, at half-time.
But the Bulldogs regained the ascendancy in the second half and didn’t let go of the rope, outscoring Colbo 32-24 across the third and fourth periods to win 60-51.
B-grade
Mount Pleasant is into the grand final after a 39-35 win over Huntly, the second time the Mounts defeated the Hawks in the post-season.
They will play White Hills next, the two sides having played a gripping semi-final only two weeks ago that saw the Demons win 52-50.
B-reserve
Lockington learned its opponent for the grand final, which will be White Hills after it edged Huntly 40-34.
17-and-under
Mount Pleasant comfortably defeated Lockington 58-37, booking a spot in the grand final against White Hills.
15-and-under
Colbinabbin’s finals run came to an end at the hands of White Hills, who eased past the Grasshoppers 47-31.
There will be local representation in the decider though, with the Demons facing Lockington for the premiership.
13-and-under
Lockington and Leitchville-Gunbower will face each other in two lower grade grand finals after the Cats’ under-13s progressed with a 36-30 win over Mount Pleasant.
