Tongala defended all three of its 2024 netball crowns, completing a treble of undefeated seasons across B-grade, C-grade, and C-reserve, but the Blues weren’t the only ones celebrating titles.
Cobram had a great day on the football field, winning all three games it was involved in: the under-14s, under-17s and, shockingly, the seniors.
Undefeated minor premier and defending champion Congupna slipped on the proverbial banana peel in the decider, posting an atrocious 5.21 in front of goal.
The Road, who had kicked just one goal with minutes to go in the third quarter, made a late run and almost staged an unlikely recovery, but it was Cobram’s day by three points, 8.6 (54) to 5.21 (51).
Credit should go to the Tigers, who made the most of their opportunities and capitalised well on Congupna’s difficult afternoon.

There was no such upset brewing on the netball courts, although Nathalia caused a few nervous glances among the Rumbalara faithful after the Purples got out to a quick lead in the A-grade final.
However, Rumba remained composed, and the minor premier had all the momentum in the second half, scoring back-to-back premierships in a confident 45-34 victory.
Moama was another big winner on the day, holding on to grab victory in the reserves by three points, while the Mowers also successfully defended their titles in the 15- and 13-and-under netball.
Echuca United prevented Moama from scoring a third consecutive junior netball treble, edging out the home court hopefuls by a single goal, 47-46, in the 17-and-under final.
