The buzz around the Shepparton Swans product reached new heights after a career-best 37-disposal, 12-mark masterclass against Essendon on the weekend, eclipsing his previous best of 34 touches from the week prior.

Add in five intercept marks and nine inside-50s during a scorching 93-point win over the Bombers, and it’s fair to say the Hawks’ veteran is justifying the calls for a maiden All-Australian blazer.

Impey is averaging 24 touches and sits among the AFL's elite for marks (7.5 per game) and metres gained (485).

With renewed confidence after a difficult run with injuries, the composed defender is shaping as a genuine match-winner heading into finals for the third-placed Hawks.

“I think (the form) just comes with a bit of maturity,” the 238-gamer said to Triple M post-game.

“I’ve got a good read on the game at the moment which is nice, and I’ve got confidence in my body.

“It probably took me a while to get that confidence back after the ACL, so it took a while to get that aerial confidence back.

“There’s good synergy down back, we’ve got a good formula, so let’s see if we can keep it up.”

Impey and the Hawks face North Melbourne in Saturday’s round 21 clash at University of Tasmania Stadium.
