United knocked over Avenel on its home court, coming away 61-42 winners and bouncing back from its opening-round loss.
Mentor Georgie O’Connor said it was nice to pick up a win after tweaking a few things from round one.
“We made sure we worked on a few things including our timing to the ball and our defensive position and the girls applied it really well,” O’Connor said.

United got off to a fast start in the opening quarter before the rain made the Avenel courts slippery, which bogged the game down.
“It made it really hard for us to play that fast-paced game we wanted to but we adapted pretty well.”
Dookie was able to keep the lead constant through the second and third quarters before pulling away again in the final stanza as the court began to dry again.
