He has kicked three bags of seven for the Wombats under age team, in 164 point, 165 point and 105 point wins against Longwood, Stanhope and Girgarre.
And he didn’t even play in the team’s 70 point win round four against Murchison Toolamba, when he was on senior duty.
The Wombats under age team has lost three times this year, twice to unbeaten ladder leader Violet Town, when Williams kicked two of the team’s five goals — then to reigning premier Nagambie, when he didn’t play at either level.
Williams kicked two goals in his senior debut against Longwood, making it nine for the day (seven in the under-18 game), in the opening round of the season.
He made three senior appearances last season and enhanced that achievement by kicking 53 goals in 16 matches (including a bag of 10 against Undera) in the under-18 competition.
Ironically, the Undera team has shaken its easybeat tag and sits second on the ladder this year, Williams’ goal-kicking feats have been somewhat humbled by the 42 goal-seven game season of Kel Beaten.
Beaton kicked 11 goals against Girgarre in round one and followed that up with 13 against Longwood, before being kept goalless in the one point loss to reigning premier Nagambie.
He has a pair of seven goal hauls in two of his other under age games, while his three senior games have been rewarded by four goals.
Mario would be proud
Jamie Scapin’s start to the 2023 Kyabram district league season would make his father proud.
Jamie’s dad was Merrigum premiership forward, Mario, who died earlier this year in a workplace accident.
After a year with Kyabram, in which he played in a grand final, he has returned to Lancaster and kicked 16 goals in four games with the all conquering reigning premier of the reserve grade.
He also kicked three goals in the Wombats senior win against Girgarre, one of four senior appearances this season (which has reaped eight goals).
Joyce shares himself around
Lachlan Joyce has done the rounds in the early stages of the 2023 season.
He has played in the Murray league with Tongala, in the Kyabram district league with Stanhope, in the Bendigo junior league with Rochester and then in a fourth set of colours while representing the Bendigo junior league while on representative duties.
Lachlan is the son of former Girgarre and Tongala coach, and Kyabram under age star, Steve Joyce.
The pair is working together at Rochester where Steve is coaching his son’s under-16 team. In all, the teenager has played 12 games for four different teams.
