After the nail-biting triumph of Murchison-Toolamba in the senior football and the dominant unbeaten year of Shepparton East in the A-grade netball, the league will have its first action for 2026 on Saturday, April 11.
Three fixtures are set for the opening Saturday, including the defending senior football champion visiting Merrigum.
The A-grade premier will be one of six sides kicking off the year the next day, the Eagles hosting Tallygaroopna in round one.
Rushworth’s surge to the preliminary final may have set the platform for A-grade glory this season.
Football runner-up Lancaster will visit Girgarre on April 12 in the opening round, while Stanhope will host Rushworth that same day.
Undera starts its campaign on April 11, travelling to Longwood.
Sunday fixtures are a continuing trend again this year, the league citing umpire availability and mentoring as a major factor.
In all, seven of the 18 rounds include Sunday games, most of those in the back half of the season.
Each team will play 16 home and away matches and take two byes.
The King’s Birthday long weekend will have a general bye held on June 6, while the final regular-season round will take place on August 15.
Other special rounds include Say No to Violence Round on May 16 and Indigenous Round on July 11.
The finals series begins with elimination finals on August 22 and 23, followed by semi-finals on August 29 and 30.
The preliminary final round will be held on September 5 and champions will be crowned on grand final day on September 12.
