Kilpatrick caught her younger sister Mia in the shadows of the post and Stockdale, starting at the rear of the boys’ field off two metres, was awarded the 100 metre gift after judges had to check the video finish.
The annual Handicap Gift involves every member of the centre, about 70 of the 98 registered athletes involved in the 100 metre blue ribbon events to end the season.
Athletes from six to 16-years-old competed against one another with Grace Kilpatrick the only scratch marker.
She was up against athletes who were given up to a 40 metre head start.
A majority of the events, much to the pleasure of the handicapper, came down to video finishes.
The final of the girls event was made up of Under 15 champion and scratch marker Kilpatrick, younger sister Mia (Under 13) from 1.5 metres, Under 11 athlete Lylah Newman was off 6 metres, Catriona Baldwin (Under 15) was off 1.5m, Stephanie Locke was off 6.5m (Under 12), Ava Giles was off 5.5m (Under 12), Lilly Todd (Under 12) ran off 12 metres and Alannah Mutimer was off 7.5 (Under 10).
Max Stockdale (two metre handicap), an Under 13 competitor, started 1.5m behind eventual second placegettter, Zac Wakenshaw (Under 12), Hayden Hodgson-Brooks (Under 14, 21.5m), Wes Smith (Under 9, 10.5m), Mason Kilpatrick (Under 10, 3.5m, Archie Williams (Under 8, 11m), Cooper Thomson (Under 8, 10m) and Noah Phelan (4m, Under 11).
The 2022-23 season has seen the best results of the last decade, with 1668 personal bests and 19 centre records. More from the presentation evening on page 24.
