Kyabram notched a significant victory in round two at home, putting Rochester to the sword 16-65 to 0-44.
Giuseppe Greco, Maria Greco and Robert Mason all tallied victories over Richard Feuk, Robert Dennis and Leslie Walles’ sides.
It was a round for the home teams, Stanhope secured a win on home soil Deniliquin, clinging on to a top four position on the ladder after taking down Deni 14-73 to 2-46.
Stanhope skip Peter Myers made the great escape against Deni’s Stephen O’Brien 17-16, before Deni’s Paul Clear fired back with a win over Geoffrey Mulcahy 22-18.
A superb effort from the Stanhope team led by Jennifer Crilly got their club over the line against Craig Hillier 38-8.
Lower grades
In the lower grades, local teams found success in round two.
A dominant Kyabram outfit conquered Rich River 14-61 to 2-55, with the red and black brigade finding themselves on top of the division two standings entering round three.
Rich River’s Leon Sharp defeated the Geoffrey Coad-led side in rink three, 28-16, before Kyabram’s Phillip Denham and Graham Woodcock ran over the top of Toni Beck and Marie Arthurson, respectively, to take the overall win.
In division three, Tongala kept its perfect start alive, taking down Moama 12-36 to 2-30, while Kyabram kept the good times rolling against Elmore 14-46 to 0-25.
Tongala and Moama split the rinks in their contest, with Moama’s Wayne Stephenson emerging victorious narrowly over Peter Tinning 18-17 before Bernadette Tinning got the job done for Tongala over David Lonnie 19-12.
Meanwhile, it was a straight sets victory for Kyabram against Elmore, with Geoffrey Hocking beating Kenneth Wills 19-17 and Darryl Gade conquering Mark Browne 27-8.
Kyvalley View couldn’t break through for its first win of the season, going down to Deniliquin 0-19 to 14-56.
Despite their best attempts, Beverley Lyon and Helen Emery were unable to overcome Ian Chessells and Ken Salter, losing 10-27 and 9-29, respectively.
This week’s division four action saw Tongala and Moama Green maintain perfect records, beating Kyabram and Stanhope 14-51 to 0-38 and 12-42 to 2-35, respectively.
Tongala accounted for Kyabram in the showdown between the two rivals, with Geoffrey Tinning and Elisabeth Vistarini taking down Murray Tenace and Jill Barrett.
Moama Green’s Ken Black dominated Anthony Trist 23-14, and it was enough to get the side over the line even though Stanhope’s Barry Williams won the second rink 21-19 against Peter Whitlock.
