The club’s greatest run maker made 106 to set up a healthy score of 249 for his side in the clash at the Gunbower recreation reserve.
Kent and skipper Brenton Campbell put on 125 runs for the fourth wicket after the Brigade was 2/22 and 3/46.
Kent occupied the crease for 218 minutes.
He faced 184 balls and struck 16 boundaries and one six in his stellar knock.
Campbell made 50 off 90 balls with six fours and a six.
Jake Gascoyne chimed in with an aggressive 41 off 42 balls with three boundaries and three sixes boosted to boost the Flames to a score that will be a big challenge for the LG batsmen this Saturday.
Kent, 42, said he had ‘‘pulled up a bit sore’’ after his innings.
‘‘It was a slow outfield so there was a lot of running,“ he said
But Kent said taking a break from the game last season had rekindled his interest and he was enjoying his comeback.
Kent also believes wins this weekend can give his side a chance to defend the flag it won last season.
‘‘If we can win this Saturday and also Sunday’s postponed (one-day) game from round six against Nondies Cohuna we are chance of sneaking into the finals,’’ Kent said.
