Sara Dodd has set a cracking pace to start the Goulburn Murray Cricket women’s B-grade season, twice retiring after her 20-delivery allocations in successive wins for the Kyabram team.

On Sunday against Echuca the Kyabram team faced Echuca and secured top spot on the six-team ladder with its third successive win of the season.
Dodd scored 16 from 15 deliveries, including three boundaries, as Kyabram scored 7-119 against Echuca after being invited to bat.
Echuca could must only 6-92 in reply as Kyabram’s Grace Hammond took 2-5 from two overs and Emma Roberts provided support with a wicket.
Earlier Breanna Baker had top scored for Kyabram with 22 runs from 24 deliveries, supported by Molly Carver (12), Roberts (18) and Melissa Parsons (not out 10).
It is the final round of the pre-Christmas period, with Kyabram facing Shepparton-Youth Club United on January 15 to re-start the season, followed by second-bottom Nathalia and then top-team Bamawm Lockington United on Sunday, January 29, at Kyabram Recreation Reserve.
After successive washouts to start the season the Kyabram team has twice faced Rochester, scoring three successive 100 run-plus tallies and losing only nine wickets along the way.
Dodd, opening the batting on both occasions, scored 26 (not out) from 20 deliveries at the Moon Oval match (striking four boundaries) and a week later retired with 25 to her credit.
She also took two wickets in a four over spell in the opening week.
Kyabram was 2-100 when it passed the Rochester total of 6-68 in the opening round Twenty-20 match, then at Kyabram Recreation Reserve scored 0-122 and bundled Rochester out for 55.
Dodd’s outstanding start, she also took two wickets in the opening round, has been matched by Breanna Baker.
Baker scored 20 from 16 deliveries before retiring in the opening match and then, a week later, scored 25 (from 21 deliveries, striking four boundaries) and took 4-4 from four overs to skittle the Rochester batting line-up.
Molly Carver took 2-8 from 2.1 overs in support as the team claimed top spot on the seven-team ladder.
On the front foot: Isla Carver is among several Kyabram batters who have not been dismissed this year. She also has one wicket to her credit.

The Fire Brigade outfit faced Echuca Stars and Moama-Rochester in the opening two rounds before coming up against Cohuna, at Moama Recreation Reserve, on Friday afternoon.
They dominated their opponent to the tune of a 71-run win, sent into bat after losing the toss and smashing 2-120 from 20 overs.
Brennan struck four boundaries in an unbeaten 17, backing up her scores of 15 and 11 not out from the previous wins for the Fire Brigade outfit.
Fire Brigade beat Echuca by four runs in their opening match, then had a 10-run win against Moama Rochester and completed the trifecta against Cohuna in the four-team competition.
Ella Hooper and Sophie McDonald, who both scored 11, supported Brennan’s innings.
Bella Davis was the pick of the Flamettes bowlers, taking 2-4 from two overs.
