Girgarre kept it tidy with 2.3, but it was too little to match the Lions, who’s three goals and a pile of behinds getting it over the line in the end.
The final score was Stanhope 11.18 (84) to Girgarre 12.9 (81).
The Kangaroos will have an uphill battle next week when they face second place Shepparton East in round six, while Stanhope will get a well-earned rest as it has the bye.
