The Mattioli Victorian Sprint Championships were held over the weekend, bringing the state’s fastest swimmers together at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

More than 1,700 competitors from across metropolitan and regional Victoria hit the water, contesting 50m sprint events in all four strokes.
Yarrawonga Mulwala Swimming Club was proudly represented by two talented athletes — Lara Angwin (16) and Flynn Cox (12) — accompanied by Head Coach Lyndon Hart.

Lara earned qualifying times in three individual events, competing strongly in the 16-year Girls Butterfly, Backstroke and Breaststroke.
It was Flynn’s first time competing at the Championships, where he qualified for and swam in two events — the 12-year Boys Breaststroke and Freestyle.

He delivered a fantastic performance, coming away with a new personal best in his Breaststroke.
Both swimmers demonstrated excellent commitment and competitive spirit on one of Victoria’s biggest stages, doing their club and community proud.
