The match was played on Friday, November 12, at Benalla in cold, wet and windy conditions.
Teams consisted of 12 players from each region and were divided into three divisions. The team members all played two singles and two doubles each over the day. A total of 36 games were played overall.
The GVCA Purple Hats were:
Division 1: Russell Smyth (Rich River), John James (Deniliquin), Trevor Peters (Echuca-Moama) and John Young (Shepparton) the captain.
Division 2: Mary James (D), Dave Maher (RR), Anne Dodd (RR) and Phil Betts (S).
Division 3: Alan Holding (RR), Margaret Sullivan (Kyabram), Trish Pedrotti (S) and Helen Brierley (RR).
The NEDCA team was represented by players from Albury, Beechworth, Howlong, Twin City, Walla Walla and Wodonga.
In what was to be a well contested match, with the NEDCA taking a strong lead at the halfway mark. The second part of the day, saw the GVCA, fight back hard to narrowly win by four hoops.
The final score was: GVCA 20 games/209 hoops defeated NEDCA 16 games/205 games.
