Hosting the Lakers at Kyabram Recreation Reserve, the Redbacks sprinted to Nagambie’s total of 135 inside 18 overs in a one-sided affair.
Batting first in enemy territory, it was the Lakers’ Blair Taylor Lloyd that did the bulk of the scoring, hitting 51 off 85 deliveries with assistance from fellow opener and captain William Ulrich (24).
Outside of that, Nagambie struggled as Redback captain Jason Parsons was lethal with the ball, taking 4-19 off eight overs.
Parsons was again at the forefront of the action in the second innings, smashing 60 not out off 51 deliveries alongside Cade Mueller, who hit an unbeaten 69 off 55 to cruise to the Lakers’ total before the drinks break.
The win was a valuable scalp for Kyabram, who will look to continue its ladder climb against Mooroopna in round eight.
Jim McGregor C-grade Shield
Undera has continued its domination of the C-grade competition, claiming its sixth win on the spin against Central Park-St Brendan’s in round six.
Winning the toss and electing to bat in enemy territory, the Lions piled on a substantial total to blow the game wide open.
Travis Guppy blasted 97 at the top of the order, before being stumped three shy from his century as Bayden Bailey piled on 84 runs at first drop.
Sarfaraz Ali was on the only multi-wicket taker for the Tigers with 2-27 as Undera tallied an enormous 7-272 in the first innings.
The Tigers didn’t come close to chasing the daunting total, being rolled for 125 as Michael Pottenger top scored with 30 and Undera’s Ash Hockey took 3-15.
The Lions will look to make it seven-in-a-row against Mooroopna this Saturday at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve.
Whitelock E-grade Shield
Kyabram’s E-grade contingent suffered a loss to Shepparton Youth Club United in round five.
After winning the toss and electing to bat at Kyabram P-12 College, the Redbacks finished the first innings at 5-162 from 35 overs.
Matthew McKiernan powered his side to the title, tallying a hard-earned half-century, with Lachlan Dennis adding a valuable 32-run cameo.
While the teams seemed relatively evenly matched, SYCU managed to get past the total in 27 overs thanks to a 50 from Karan Devgan, despite Dennis and Toby McKiernan taking a pair of wickets.
Kyabram will have a good chance to get back on the board when it faces winless Pine Lodge in round six.
Senior Women
Kyabram’s senior women's side forfeited in round six against Nagambie and will play Shepparton Youth Club United in round seven on Saturday.
