Winning the toss and electing to bowl at Girgarre Recreation Reserve, Kyabram tore through Mooroopna’s line-up to leave its opponent all-out for 95.
William Emanuelli (53) was the only batter to do much of anything, with Ryan Hallum (15) and Mohammad Ahmed (13 not out) the next best.
Nicholas Chambers spearheaded the Redbacks bowling attack with 5-11 from 12 overs including seven maidens with Tom Holman (2-18) and Matthew McDonald (2-19) also among the wickets.
With 15 overs left in the day, Kyabram went in to bat with things getting dodgy quick as opener Troy Thomson (3) lasted three deliveries and Jack Young (6) went cheaply.
Captain Justin Parsons was the only stabilising force at the top of the order, tallying 25 before he too was out.
At 3-40, Kyabram requires 55 for victory with seven wickets in hand and a whole day to bat, despite losing early wickets the Redbacks should get the job done.
Jim McGregor C-grade Shield
Round seven ended up being for nought for Undera and Mooroopna as the match was abandoned 26 overs into proceedings.
Undera won the toss and elected to bowl first at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve, snaring four wickets before the game was called.
Bayden Bailey led the way with 2-26, as Mooroopna’s Mark Nolen looked in fine touch at the top of the order with an unbeaten 47.
In round eight, Undera will travel to Lemnos Recreation Reserve in an attempt to continue its unbeaten streak against Pine Lodge.
Whitelock E-grade Shield
Despite chasing a solid total set by Pine Lodge, the Redbacks had little issue chasing it down in 23 overs on Saturday.
Playing at Kyabram P-12 College, the visitor won the toss and elected to bat first, with Samuel Hayes (61 not out) and Travis Spark (46) doing the heavy lifting at number three and four, respectively.
Toby McKiernan (2-14) and Xavier Graetz (2-27) led the way with ball in hand for the Redbacks as Pine Lodge ended its 30-over stint at 9-169.
While Kristian Chambers (10) and Adam Banks (12) didn’t get the scores they were hoping for, the chase was led by Riley Nicholson’s half-century, retiring after raising the bat and captain Tyler Turvey’s unbeaten hand of 39, sailing past the total in rapid fashion at 2-172.
Kyabram finds itself within the finals picture at an even 2-2 record and will face Karramomus at Vibert Reserve for round seven on Saturday.
