Yesterday’s match with Gisborne produced a one sided result for the GM team, on the back of a 5-152 innings after being sent into bat.
It dismissed Gisborne wickets with only 77 runs, Fire Brigade star Mason (27 from 57 deliveries), Bamawm Lockngton United’s Sophie Good (31 not out) and Kyabram Black’s George Leonard (not out 20) contributing to the 40 over scoreline.
The Mason dismissal was the first time she had been removed in six innings this season, averaging 91 with the bat.
At Under-17 level the girls team was not as successful, dismissed for 50 in its match with Bendigo from just 19 overs.
Echuca’s Miasy Byrne (10) was the only player to hit double figures. Bendigo passed the GM score with three wickets in hand, another Echuca star in Isla Laffy taking 3-13 from 5.1 overs in the second half of the match.
– The GM’s Under-13B team wrapped up its round-one match against Shepparton with 10 wickets to spare.
Echuca’s Xavier Carmichael was a star with bay and ball, taking two wickets as GM bundled Shepparton out for 53 and scoring an unbeaten 42 in quick time in reply.
He and Fire Brigade’s Jonty Sefton (not out 15) shared in an opening stand of 63 to give the GM victory.
Sefton also took a wicket, while Taj Maddox took two scalps in the GM domination of its opponent.
In the Under-13A match on Tuesday the GM team was all out for 62 in 30.1 overs.
Charlie Pekin made 12, the only double figure score, and struck one of only two boundaries for the innings.
Bendigo scored the winning runs with little fuss.
– Under-14 skipper, Moama’s James Mason, and opening batting partner Charles Connors put their team on the road to an opening round win against Murray Valley.
GM lost just one wicket in its run chase, finishing with 1-113 in pursuit of MV’s 79-run total, which was influenced by the two-wicket hauls of Geordie Teasdale and Mason.
– Shepparton had eight wickets in hand when it passed the GM Under-15’s team total in a match highlighted by Bamawm Lockington United Star Lucas Holgate’s 48-run tally.
Holgate and another BLU star, Kade Pearse (20) combined to have GM 5-91 in the 23rd over, but the last five wickets fell for just 27 runs.
– GM’s Under-16 match with Bendigo resulted in a 25-run win for the visiting team to Huntly.
– GM had four wickets in hand when it passed Murray Valley’s total in the Under-17 match.
Three wickets for Echuca star Archer Carlile and two wickets for Tongala’s Lachlan Caldwell restricted Murray Valley to 111 from 42.1 overs in the match.
In reply GM was 6-144, Fire Brigade’s Bailey White scoring 27 and Cohan Hooper an unbeaten 17.
