Josh Cartwright, Jorja Ponton, Charlie Boswood and Henry Boswood represented Victoria in the School Sport Australian championships at Tweed Heads last week.
The 15-member Victorian squad was broken into three rinks for the titles, who finished first, second and third on the ladder.
Overall, Victoria won the title against its New South Wales opposition.
Josh competed in the ladder-topping Victorian Blue team, while Henry was in Victoria White and Charlie and Jorja were in the Pink team. They competed in six rounds of the competition.
The Kyabram Bowling Club duo, from Kyabram P-12 College and St Augustine’s College, all came away with a gold medal.
Josh and Charlie were also named in the 10-member All Australian side, selected from all competing bowlers.
During the year the Boswoods won the state’s under-18 pairs title, while Josh Cartwright played with his father David and new Kyabram Bowling Club Brent Rainer to win the state open triples title.
While her brother was plying his trade in New South Wales Olivia Cartwright was in West Australia with a Victorian squad competition in a pre-national championships test series.
Cartwright, playing as third to Moama teammate and national champion Cassandra Millerick, assisted her team to a three-shot win in the Victorian team’s opening round.
Victoria lost the test by five shots overall, despite securing wins on two of the three rinks.
Victoria lost four of the five tests, but didn’t walk away empty handed as it tied with West Australia in the second test when Cartwright’s team lost by nine shots.
It was by no means a one-sided affair, at least by the scores, as Victoria lost the third round by only a single shot and the final round by four shots.
Cartwright finished with one rink win and a draw from the series.
She is currently playing in the Moama Prestige Pairs with Tweed Heads bowler Chloe Stewart, who is in part of the national team program.
The three-day event started on Monday when the pair won all three games and were due to play eight rounds in the $40,000 round robin tournament to decide the winners of the tournament today.
