Morgan, who earlier this year played his 250th senior Goulburn Valley league match with Kyabram, was not only completing his usual duties with the second ranked Paul Newman coached Kyabram team — he was also rubbing shoulders with former teammates from two premierships.
Fortunately, at least for Morgan, he was sitting out the Shepparton Swans round nine match with an injury.
Morgan was a member of the Michael Power coached 2003 under-18 team that beat Benalla by seven points in the grand final.
He was also a member of the 2013 senior GVL premiership team, rated by many as the best player on the ground with now Gold Coast Sun — a then 18-year-old Nick Holman.
Triple treat: Jason Morgan was a member of the 2003 Kyabram Under-18 GVL premiership, then 10 years later played in a senior grand final win. He is the current captain of the team and still a star player.
Power said Morgan, who was attending Assumption College at the time, had played enough matches to qualify for the Bombers.
“He was a bit of a secret weapon for us in the finals, because he hadn’t played against any of the strong teams.
“He was one of our best in the qualifying final against Benalla when we won by five points in extra time,” Power said.
Power, who played in a 1991 premiership at Girgarre and was a star with Picola, had a second connection to the reunion on Saturday.
His son, Brad, was a member of the 2013 under-18 premiership team that was coached to victory by Paul Newman.
Brad Power played senior football with the Bombers as a 16-year-old in 2012. The Bombers also beat Benalla in that 2013 under-18 grand final win.
