Winning the toss and electing to bat, the Hawks initially got off to a solid start, making it to 27 without loss before losing a clump of wickets, as Charlie Noonan (9), Ryder Leith (17) and Kade Rogers (5) all fell in quick succession, as Barooga slumped to 3-39.
Oscar Benson (4) and Kohen Haddrell (15) would fall in consecutive overs as the Hawks fell to 5-59, while Jed Flanagan and Wyatt Twite both were dismissed for ducks to leave the Hawks down 7-71.
Ayden Richmann was solid in the lower order, adding 12, but the star of the innings was Charlie McDonald, who made a patient 30 from 63 deliveries to help Barooga beyond 100, although he was the final wicket to fall, leaving the Hawks with a total of 110 after being bowled out in the 39th over.
It was a supreme team effort in the field, too, as Rogers (2-9), Oliver Benson (2-11), Flangan (2-20), Nash Hill (1-2), Noonan (1-6), and Haddrell (1-13) all snared wickets, another coming via run out, as the Hawks bowled the Bloods out for 72 inside 35 overs to seal victory.
The win also secures a sweep of the junior titles for Barooga, with the under-17 side having claimed the premiership over Cobram-Katamatite two weeks ago.
Barooga was unable to repeat the feat in the B-grade decider, though, with Berrigan proving too strong for the Hawks at Barooga Recreation Reserve.
The Saints won the toss and scored 7-196 from their 40 overs, with Luke Melville top-scoring with 55, while Riley Adams (2-14) was the pick of Barooga’s bowlers.
In reply, Barooga were 3-129 with slightly more than eight overs remaining, but the required run-rate became too much as the home side lost 7-23 to be all out for 152 from 36.4 overs.
Kale Watkins was brilliant with the bat, making 51 to help give his side a chance; however, the Saints were too strong with ball in hand.
Jordan Swann (3-38) claimed three scalps, including that of Watkins, as Berrigan won by 44 runs.
In C-grade, Finley claimed the premiership, defeating Strathmerton by 31 runs at Berrigan.
Finley’s 156 all out from 34.5 overs was enough, as Strathmerton was all out for 125 in 31 overs.
Matt Clarke top-scored with 51 retired not out, opening the batting for Finley, while Jacob Armer’s 4-14 were the Cats’ best figures with the ball.
