The Redbacks are without a win, first falling to Shepparton Youth Club United by 44 runs in round one, and then to Mooroopna by 102 runs in round two before facing up to Nagambie on Sunday.
Ky won the toss and had a bat, but the openers found the going slow early.
Lacy Parsons and Sarah Chaston stuck it out for almost five overs, but only had six runs to show for their effort before Chaston found her bails dislodged by a Breanna Davison delivery.
Parsons didn’t last much longer and the Redbacks were in an early hole at 2-11.
Penny Mason (10) and Rebecca Bowles (9) made useful contributions in the middle order, but Ky couldn’t construct a productive partnership and was bowled out in the final over for 51.
Kayla Shepherd cleaned out the tail and picked up best figures of 3-3, while both Shelly Houston and Sharay Slivarich took two wickets for the Lakers.
Shepherd got the Nagambie chase off to a quick start, but Kyabram inspired some hope when an early wicket went the way of Parsons, sending Sarah Villinger to the sheds.
However, after Davison joined Shepherd at the crease the game slipped from the Redbacks hands, as the pair scored rapidly and reeled in the target within six overs.
Shepherd retired not out with 27 from 15 deliveries, while Davison posted 17 unbeaten.
With the new women’s competition featuring only four teams, Kyabram is back up against SYCU in the next round and will play a Thursday game from 6pm at Kyabram Recreation Reserve.
