The games, which restart the season after the festive break, now become one-day (45 overs a side) clashes this Saturday.
Cricket Shepparton treasurer and executive member Andrew Porch said several clubs were affected by the bushfires in some way or another and it was not a difficult decision to cancel play (last Saturday).
‘‘Changing it to a one-day game will allow teams fighting for spots in the finals to still get the chance to earn premiership points,’’ Porch said.
Kyabram, sitting on top of the ladder, meets third-placed Karramomus in a crucial clash at Shepparton’s Vibert Reserve oval.
The switch to a one-day game has worked in Kyabram’s favour, with skipper and star batter Kyle Mueller now available after returning from a successful campaign at the national country cricket championships.
Kyabram will be relying on Mueller, his brother Cade, Billy McLay, Paul Parsons, Alec Young, Kyle Fitzgerald and Tim Nelson to post a winning score and its pace attack headed by coach Jackson and Charlie McLay, Sam Langley and spin king Louis Sabbagh-Holt to bowl Karramomus out for a losing score.
