The Redbacks batted first at Tallygaroopna Recreation Reserve in the B-grade contest and opener Young made 69 from 111 deliveries, helping his side post 155 from its 45 overs.
The only remaining significant contribution came from Nicholas Chambers (32 not out), wickets tumbling regularly as Ky lost its last wicket on the final ball of the innings.
For Northerners, Nathaniel Timson and Joshua and Trent Sidebottom all took two wickets.
It was a dream start for the Redbacks in the second innings as Sam Dawes was sent to the sheds within three balls and Ky looked to have a firm grip on the game after reducing Northerners to 3-22.
The introduction of Stuart Turner, and later Trent Sidebottom, turned the tide in the host’s favour.
Turner put on 46 with Jake Davidson before an innings-defining partnership with Sidebottom took Northerners all the way to the target in the 41st over.
Turner finished 71 not out, while Sidebottom’s game-winning single brought up his 50.
Chambers had best figures for Ky of 2-25.
C-grade Jim McGregor Shield
Undera showed too much quality for Old Students, cruising to a 93-run win.
Bayden Bailey (62) was the leader with the bat, while Joel Bunce (48) was unfortunate not to join him as a half centurion as the Lions set 7-193 in their 40 overs.
Gill Nav and Jaswinder Singh each took two wickets for Old Students.
Wickets fell routinely in the run chase as Old Students quickly slipped to 6-35.
A lower order recovery effort saw Nav and Clayton Cullen each make 17, while number nine Kuldeep Achint’s 24 was his side’s best.
It was far from enough for Old Students and Undera dismissed the opposition for 100 runs within 30 overs.
It was a lethal trident of bowling threats from the Lions, Cody Heazlewood taking 4-22, while Russell Sheriff and Ash Hockey took three each.
Whitelock E-grade Shield
Northerners were expansive with the bat, running up an unreachable score against Kyabram at P-12 College.
Scott Thorn, Ken Matheson and Mark Lee made 50s, while four other batters surpassed 20 as Northerners put up an eye-watering 4-314 in 35 overs.
Andrew Porch, who originally retired with 50, returned in a heroic last-wicket partnership with Patrick Parsons (27 not out) to finish with 90, but Kyabram was well short of the target, bowled out for 183.
