Introduced to the attack after Katandra openers Talon Wilson (45) and Ben Clurey (18) had seen off the Kyabram pace brigade in a stand of 62, Ohlsen and Herbert cut through the visitors’ batting line-up in spectacular fashion.
Ohlsen’s nine overs reaped matchwinning figures of 5/20 while Herbert took 3/19 off nine overs.
Jackson McLay and Cade Mueller picked up the other two wickets as Katandra succumbed for 117 in 40 overs.
Promoted opener Troy Thomson, Bill McLay and captain Kyle Mueller then sealed the Kyabram win.
Thomson made an unbeaten half-century, with seven boundaries, and Mueller scored 26 as Kyabram rounded up Katandra’s total in 29 overs for the loss of three wickets.
Thomson shared an opening stand of 54 with Billy McLay, who grafted 23 off 51 balls, which was the foundation for Kyabram’s winning score.
Kyabram has the bye in the final home-and-away round this Saturday as it waits to see where it finishes on the ladder and who its rival will be in the first week of the finals.
• Kyabram’s B grade side has to win its game against Pine Lodge this Saturday or miss the finals after a shock loss to one of the bottom teams, Katandra.
In reply to Katandra’s score of 9/149, Kyabram was bundled out for just 69 with only three batsmen getting into double figures.
Jayden Fitzgerald top-scored with 18, as Kyabram fell in 14 overs.
• Ross Brown was among the runs again in C grade, making 69 of Kyabram’s score of 6/208 against Karramomus.
But it was not enough to save his side, with the visitors covering Kyabram’s score with 4.4 overs remaining.
Brown thumped six sixes and three fours and got most support from opener Aidan Robinson with 39 in a 74-run stand for the third wicket.
Kyabram slipped from third to fifth on the ladder with the loss and faces top side Invergordon in the final round this Saturday with its finals chances hanging by a thread.
