Round four of the Deniliquin Lawn Tennis Club’s twilight competition was called off last week due to the heat rule, with Peppin Planners leading the competition by the barest of margins over Mitre 10.
Only one set divides these two teams, 50 sets to 49.
Mitre 10 made a big effort when last they played Peppin and recorded a win of 15 sets to 11.
However they remain just off the pace with the competition half completed and another four rounds to play.
John Henderson wants to remind all players that in this competition, the final placings on the table shall be determine the winners.
There will be no play-off between the leading two teams as has been usual in past seasons.
The shorter, eight round competition is necessary because of an early Easter, and the need for the club to prepare for the four day Western Riverina Championships played over that long weekend.
Mitre 10 will play the fourth placed Legal Eagles this week.
The Eagles are on 26 sets and are determined to get into the top half of the table.
Deniliquin Newsagency is in third place having won 43 sets, and are set to play ladder leaders Peppin Planners.
