Centre half back Sam Hemphill, and midfielders Oscar Elliott and Noah Iddles have been selected in the Under 18’s Ovens and Murray interleague football squad set to play Goulburn Valley League in Mooroopna on Saturday, May 28.
The three Yarrawonga representatives are in the squad of 35 which will be cut to 22 plus three emergencies for the match.
The team will be coached by Albury’s Tim McGrath who said there are some great juniors in the squad.
“With the Goulburn Valley League we spoke about how we want to give kids who haven’t had the exposure through the Bushrangers an experience to play at a higher level,” he said. “It’s a really good opportunity for them.”
Yarrawonga’s Under 18 coach Craig Frauenfelder agreed. “It certainly is,” he told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
“These three players lead by example. Sam is our captain, a good leader, Noah’s new to the club having come across from Cobram and going well, and Oscar’s a good in-and-under player.
“I believe they all have good chances of making the 22.”
