Kyabram will be without its skipper and prolific runmaker Kyle Mueller on day one of its clash with Karramomus when Cricket Shepparton’s Haisman Shield season resumes this Saturday after the festive break.
Mueller will still be in Western Australia representing Victoria in the Toyota Australian County Cricket Championships being played in the Margaret River-Bussleton area from January 3-10.
But Mueller will return in time to take his place in the Kyabram side on the second day of its clash with Karramomus being played at Vibert Reserve.
An outright win over Pine Lodge in the round prior to Christmas has propelled Kyabram to the top of the Haisman Shield ladder with 40 premierships points.
Karramomus is currently in third place and sharing 30 premiership points on the ladder below second placed Central Park St Brendan’s which has a superior percentage.
Before heading west, Mueller warned Karramomus was a vastly improved side this season after battling for several years, and will be a good challenge for his team.
‘‘They are a lot stronger this season and have to be respected,’’ Mueller said.
