Louie Sabbagh-Holt, an 18-year-old left arm spinner who hails from the Cirencester Cricket Club in the West England Cricket League was due to arrive in Australia yesterday and make his debut with the club in the opening one-day round at Kyabram Recreation Reserve.
Kyabram has lost star all-rounder Kaine Herbert, who has returned to Kyabram Fire Brigade and apart from Sabhah-Holt will also have top order batsman Cade Mueller return after an injury enforced season off last year and a new recruit in Connor McLeod.
McLeod, who played with Kilmore Cricket Club, has moved to Kyabram and is the son of a Cricket Shepparton legend Rod McLeod.
He is a medium fast bowler/batsman who is now working and living in Kyabram.
Kyabram coach Jackson McLay believes Kyabram’s core players can hold their own against the competition’s best.
Brothers Billy and Charlie McLay and Kyle and Cade Mueller plus Paul Parsons and McLeod will head up Kyabram’s batting and batsman Ethan Hart will be one their youngest who could step up.
The Redbacks are keen to make a positive start ot the season after a qualifying final exit from the 2022-23 campaign.
