The Deni Rhinos B-grade team made their way to play hosts Barooga in the last match of their season.
Barooga won the toss and elected to bat first.
The Rhinos bowled well with their young team getting Barooga all out for 169 from 37.4 overs.
Tom Marshall led the way in the wickets column with four, while there were six other individual wicket takers.
Chasing 170 the Rhinos openers Stephen Marshall and Charlie McCallum got off to a strong start with McCallum the first to go caught for 21 off 35 balls with four fours.
Losing three more wickets, this brought Chris Pyle into bat with Stephen Marshall.
Marshall ended up with a swashbuckling opening half century out for 65 off 97 balls with nine fours and one six before being caught.
With six wickets down Pyle and Senaka Lakmal were at the crease and the Rhinos were a chance needing 40 runs off five overs.
However when Pyle was out after a firmly hit caught and bowled for 25 off 35 balls with two fours and one six the Rhinos were soon after all out for 138 from 38 overs.
It was a close result as Barooga won by 31 runs in what was a promising season for the Rhinos B-grade side finishing sixth.
