The Kangaroos easily accounted for the Redlegs on their home patch of Girgarre Recreation Reserve, picking up a 73-point win, 17.13 (115) to 6.6 (42).
The first was the closest of the four quarters and Tallygaroopna might have thought itself unlucky not to go into the first change with an unlikely lead.
While Girgarre kicked a composed 3.2 for the period, the Redlegs sprayed a wayward 1.4 at the sticks and trailed by 10 at the break.
The Roos took full control of the game in the second term, booting five majors to Tally’s two to leap out to a more than 30-point advantage at the half.
The lead continued to climb in the third and Girgarre capped the big win with another five goals to one in the final term.
This year’s recruit Billy Barnes has been a force in front of goal throughout the season, continuing that form against the Redlegs with a team-best four majors.
Barnes is equal fifth on the league goal-kickers tally with 35.
Josh Temple (3), Luke Chapman, Steven Phillips and Nicholas Varcoe (2) were the other Roos to slot multiple majors.
For Tallygaroopna, only Cael McCarthy (2) was able to find the goal more than once.
Tylah McLean, Jorge Maxwell, Chapman, Griffin Bird, Phillips and Charles Lowe were pegged by coach John Wilson as the Roos’ best.
The recent uptick in form has given Girgarre a boost against its lower-table rivals, the Roos improving to 10th on the ladder, boasting wins over the three teams currently below them.
The side will be in for a rigorous test this weekend, as it hosts giant-killer Lancaster, which handed Murchison-Toolamba its first loss in nearly two years at the weekend.
