However, if the Roos are going to complete the dream of back-to-back flags, they’ll need to get past a monumental threat in Shepparton East in the grand final this weekend.
The Eagles have been the competition’s yard stick in 2025, going through both the home-and-away season and finals undefeated en route to the grand final.
The pair face each other head-to-head twice in 2025, with Shepparton East taking the chocolates on both occasions, by three goals in round six and by 17 to earn direct access to the grand final in the first semi-final.
It's been a harder road for the Roos this season than it was in 2024, with Girgarre claiming the minor premiership and the flag last season, while finishing second on the ladder in 2025 and going the long way back to the grand final.
Girgarre A-grade co-coach Holly Nelson reflected on the looming decider, acknowledging the strength of the Eagles but backing her side to get the job done and go back-to-back.
“Shepparton East has been definitely been the team to beat this year, no-one has done that yet,” she said.
“We know it's going to be a big challenge, but if last year's grand final says anything, it is anyone's game.
“We lost to Lancaster two weeks before the grand final last year by over 10 goals as well and won it so we know it's definitely not out of the picture.
“Shepparton East are a fantastic side, we know we're going to have to play at our absolute best we've played all season to get the win.
“We know we are definitely capable, and we have complete faith in our whole playing group that it can be done, and we're really excited for the challenge ahead.”
While all eyes will be on the court this Saturday at Mooroopna Main Oval, Nelson highlighted the excitement and unity the finals bring and the positive atmosphere around the playing group in September.
“There’s an absolutely fantastic vibe around the group currently, I think yeah finals just brings a whole new level of excitement,” she said.
“You know you play for each other in your club, and we're just one week to go and everyone's fighting fit and ready to see what we can achieve.”
The A-grade netball grand final is scheduled for a 2.45pm start.
