This Saturday Stanhope Football Netball Club will not only celebrate one but six, yes six, premiership reunions, starting with its Paddy Meehan coached Stanhope senior football side which beat Colbinabbin for the Heathcote and District Football League flag in 1976.
It was the club’s first year in this league after its time in the Goulburn Valley League.
Not only did Stanhope’s senior side win the flag that year, but its reserves and thirds made it all the more remarkable and memorable as they also won flags.
And 10 and 20 years later, Stanhope’s renowned netball sides won A-grade premierships in 1986 in the Heathcote League and in 1996 in the Kyabram and District League.
The premiership players of those two teams will also celebrate this Saturday along with the club’s thirds football side which claimed the 1996 Under 18s flag in the KDL.
Club stalwart Gavin Poole said there would be all day celebrations on Friday night and Saturday, with a noon lunch.
Anyone who hasn’t booked for the lunch can still book with Gavin by phoning him on 0427 572 372.
