There were some close battles in the Campaspe Playing Area weekend pennant on Saturday, and things didn’t go all the favourites’ way.

Echuca stayed unbeaten to keep its place on top, but Rich River shocked Stanhope in the round’s big upset.

At Stanhope, the unbeaten host was unseated by a shot, Rich River getting the job done 12-67 to 4-66.
Stanhope had the running of two rinks, Robert Ponton (25-20) and Ben Fletcher (22-18) both masterminding victories for the favourite.

However, Keith Hewitt and his squad of Eugene Xodo (lead), Graeme Moffat (second), and Alan Polak (third) swung the game in Rich River’s favour with a 29-19 win, flipping the overall result to the visitor.
Moama dented Kyabram’s confidence at Moama Bowling Club, scoring a 14-66 to 2-50 win.
Skip Jorja Ponton kept her squad within striking distance.

Jock Linehan led the Steamers’ best rink, running up a 29-15 scoreline, while Geoffrey Beattie also earned points for Moama, 18-14.
Tongala moved into fifth after scoring maximum points with the bye.

Lower divisions
In division two, Moama remained on top after a nail-biter with Stanhope, 12-58 to 4-57, while Kyabram edged out Deniliquin 15-57 to 1-54.
Echuca smashed Tongala 16-63 to 0-39.

Skips Jorja Ponton (13-16), and Stephen Tinning (17-21) were both in reach of rink victory, but couldn't find the shots required, while in the remaining rink, Echuca’s Michelle Cunnington had all the running against the Troy Mackrell-led Tongala squad, winning 26-9.
Division three had Lockington score strongly against Tongala, 14-75 to 2-52, and Rich River dominate Stanhope 16-65 to 0-43.
Kyabram squeaked by Moama 14-51 to 2-50.

In division four, Lockington won all three rinks over Tongala 16-68 to 0-45, while Moama did the same over Kyabram 16-74 to 0-42.
Mathoura snagged a close win over Ky Valley View 12-59 to 4-55.
In division five, Moama powered through Kyabram 14-49 to 0-21, while the result between Stanhope and Rich River wasn’t available.
