Stars take to Parkland for inaugural women’s weekend event

Golfers braved wet conditions at Kyabram Parkland Golf Club at the weekend for the 16th Victorian Par 3 Golf Championships.

The women’s competition, played at the weekend for the first time in Parkland’s history, was held on Saturday and Sunday, with the men’s event to take place this weekend.

The Kyabram Club-sponsored event returns to Parkland after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.

Parkland’s own Lana McInnes was runner-up in division one with a modified score of 61 stableford points, while Riversdale’s Golf Club’s Arena Tran won the division with a score of 62 points.

Kyabram dominated the division two competition, with Pamela Spokes taking out first place with 67 points, followed by another home member in Geraldine Prendergast, who finished with 65 points.

The main championship trophy was won by Belvoir Park’s Jazy Roberts, with a total of 117 points across the two rounds.

The talented youngster also picked up first prize in the junior event.

The teams event went to Parkland’s Kathy Bell, Prendergast and McInnes, with 189 points.

Another big weekend of golf will take place at Parkland on Saturday and Sunday for the men’s instalment of the Victorian Par 3 Championships.
