That was the story of Kyabram thirds’ defeat and exit from the Goulburn Valley League finals against Shepparton at Tatura on Sunday.
The Bears launched a goal blitz midway through the second term into the third and final quarters to blow the young Bombers away — 19.11 to 7.3.
After Kyabram kicked the first two goals of the second term to get within a kick, Shepparton kicked nine unanswered third-quarter goals and 12 second-half goals to Kyabram’s two in the demolition.
Kyabram coach Peter Hall acknowledged Shepparton was by far the superior side on the day.
‘‘They were just too big and too tall and too strong,’’ he said.
“We lost most of the stoppages and they completely took over in the third quarter which killed us off.
“We fought it out to the end, which was good, but they (Shepparton) are capable of going all the way in my opinion.’’
Ruckman Angus Scoble again gave away of lot of height but finished the season on the high he has been on all season.
Bottom-age player Tyler Norman, skipper Bohde Learmonth and Nic Jepson tried hard all game to get things moving for Kyabram and Jay Gentle also put in a solid game in defence.
Danny Miller on a wing and Sam Marland were also under notice for a lot of good work against the odds.
Shepparton now meets Shepparton Swans in the preliminary final on Sunday for the right to play Echuca in the grand final the following Sunday.
