Teen teams deliver the wins

A-grade: Blighty 19 def by Katunga 58.

The ladies played a tremendous game on Saturday, working together as a team, putting on defensive pressure down the court.

Stevie Bateman worked hard in defence the whole game, with support from Tara Macrae and Steph Barry.

Erica Nicholls, in wing defence, made her wing attack work hard in the game and was able to create some wonderful intercepts.

Meagan Andrews and Chelsea Weir fed the ball to Ash Charlton and Monique Toppin well, and worked hard in the centre and wing attack to create passages of play.

It was another wonderful game by the ladies, and it is great to see them continue to improve each week.

B-grade: Blighty 30 def by Katunga 78.

Jessie Hamner and Chloe Macknight worked well together in their goals this week, to create space in the goal ring.

Tara Macrae showed controlled and measured feeding of the ball to Chloe and Jessie throughout the whole game.

Meg Erickson returned to the court this week, and you wouldn’t know she had not played all season.

Meg and Jane Napier worked tirelessly in defence, applying lots of pressure and some turnovers.

Krystle Winter and Dakini Hall worked well in the mid-court to apply pressure and bring the ball down to the attacking end.

C-grade: Blighty 15 def by Katunga 70.

The girls were nervous about taking on the top team, but embraced the challenge with determination.

Once again, they played a great game, showing how far they’ve come and how well they’re working together as a team.

This week saw the return of Ciara D’Aprile, who showcased her versatility across WD, WA, and centre.

Relentless and fearless, she chased down every ball — a true asset to the team.

Also in centre, Mikayla Collie impressed with her court movement. She was always finding space and delivering the ball cleanly into the ring.

The attacking trio of Grace Reid, Rachel Bucholtz, and Emma Brain renewed their strong partnership. Emma earned Best on Court for her consistent effort and impact in the goal ring.

It was a tough day in defence, but the girls never gave up.

Nicola Stanworth and Amelia Fraser worked tirelessly, pulling off several key interceptions.

Tess Lloyd came on with great energy, making numerous turnovers and refusing to back down.

Thank you to Alena Lamour for going into GD. She is always happy to go in any position and give it her all.

C-reserve: Blighty 12 def by Katunga 44.

The girls were pumped and full of energy heading into the clash against Katunga.

With their hard work at training starting to pay off, the team was eager to put everything into play on court.

Katunga came out firing in the first half and managed to gain an early lead, but our girls didn’t let that faze them.

They dug deep, showing grit and determination right to the final whistle.

In defence, Sarah Bain and Grace Ingram were standouts, reading the play beautifully and combining well to put pressure on Katunga’s attack.

Lauryn Bond and Jess Butcher were a steady force through the mid-court, linking defence and attack and keeping the ball moving.

Alena Lamour continued her sensational season, showcasing her versatility and creating strong passages of play. She’s been a huge asset to the team all year.

Our young gun Tess Lloyd impressed again with her athleticism and hunger for the ball. She’s fearless and relentless, and it shows every week!

Under-17s: Blighty 43 def Katunga 29.

From the first whistle, the girls were determined to win after a very narrow loss last week.

The Swans were no match for our Redeye girls, taking the lead in each quarter and extending into the final term.

Strong, confident netball was on display, and we are very proud of each player’s poise and good sportsmanship against a very physical Katunga side.

All players deserved an award this week for their efforts, but Amelia Hay shone in the centre, taking control and never missing a beat.

Ruby Caruso was ever supportive and a great teammate, being there to help direct play.

The third award went to Gwen Gazzara who again played strongly, looking very at home in WD.

Under-15s: Blighty 31 def Katunga 14.

We secured a well-deserved win after lots of hard work and determination.

The girls stepped onto the court with fun and laughter, but still focusing on what needed to be done.

We have seen immense improvement from our passes to our drives.

Ellie Miller played fantastically in shooter, always moving and creating space in the ring.

Cassidy Sibraa worked beautifully with both Ellie and Kyah Watson in the ring, creating many options and making smart decisions to achieve our goals.

Lena Seely went into centre for the first time and rocked it. She helped with moving the ball down the court with ease, and putting that extra pressure on in the defensive end.

Our defenders, Milla Bode, Lily Petersen, Ivy Ball, and Savannah Bain worked hard the whole game to create many hard-earned turnovers.

Lucy Pisasale and Amy Doherty worked well together in the attacking third and did some great feeds into the ring.

Under-13s: Blighty 39 def Katunga 4.

Blighty delivered a dominant performance on the court this weekend.

From the first whistle, Blighty took control of the game with strong mid-court pressure and quick ball movement.

Many players stepped into different positions, once again showing the versatility of the team.

Shooters Alice Petersen, Lexi Bucholtz, Ella Charlton and Peggy McKenzie consistently converted opportunities into goals, while their defenders Shelby Huckin, Indi Bain and Kaydnce Sibraa applied relentless pressure to limit Katunga's scoring chances.

Mid-court players Isla Andrews, Myah Gazzara and Gerogie Butcher all contributed to create turnovers with seamless transitions through the centre, and confident passes into the circle.

Despite the tough opposition, Katunga fought hard throughout the four quarters and showed great sportsmanship and determination, managing to break through for a few well-earned goals.

Awards: Myah Gazzara, Ella Charlton, Indi Bain.

Under-11s: Not scored.

The girls have been improving each week, and we can really see their skills developing.

Ruby Foley found space away from her opponent and used her voice to call for the ball, bringing it down the court.

Olivia Butcher was fierce in defence, sticking tight with her player and taking a great intercept.
