Rushworth strutted its stuff at Ironbark Stadium in round 12 of Kyabram District League football, putting mid-table contemporary Violet Town to the sword.
From the outset, the Tigers showed their fangs to the travelling Towners, nailing 6.3 in the first quarter to dart out to a 24-point quarter-time lead.
While Violet Town warmed into the contest with a solid 3.2 effort in the second period, Rushworth (4.4) was able to extend its lead to 32 by the half-time siren.
The Towners’ quietest attacking passage came in the third term, where they only added 1.4 to the tally, while the Tigers kicked away with 5.2.
With the lead sitting at 54 points heading into the final frame, Rushworth didn’t let up, finishing its day with a 3.5 effort to well and truly ice the game.
Meanwhile, Violet Town never really looked to be in with a sniff, ending the game 64 points shy of the Tigers.
The match illuminated the difference between a team pushing for finals and one stuck at the bottom of the mid-table mire with six rounds remaining in the 2025 home and away season.
Thomas Stevens (4) led the way for Rushworth in front of goal and he was joined by Jac Barrett, Ethan Arnold, Nicholas Oaten, Andrew Clarke, Tighe Clarke in the Tigers’ best list.
Rushworth will have a date with its closest contemporary in round 13, battling Longwood in what could be a definitive contest that could decide who claims the higher seed come finals.
