Yet, the contest between the Redlegs and Tigers at Tallygaroopna Recreation Reserve was even through the first quarter, with the hosts taking a slim, four-point advantage at quarter-time.
Despite being down heading into the second period, Rushworth stretched its legs, kicking 5.6, while holding Tallygaroopna to just 2.5 in the same time to snatch the lead at the major break.

Not only was Rushworth’s kicking game on point down the stretch, producing another six-goal effort down the stretch, but its defence held back any sort of resistance the hosts could offer, limiting them to just three behinds to finish the day.
The final score was Rushworth 17.20 (122) to Tallygaroopna 6.9 (45).

Liam Adlington, Paul Vavlitis and Liam Francis all kicked three majors in the contest, with Francis and Vavlitis being joined by Luke Oakley, Ryan Beale, Andrew Clarke and Ethan Arnold among the Tigers’ best.
Not only has the two wins in consecutive weeks given Rushworth a much-needed confidence boost, it has also shot them up into the middle of the ladder, with the Tigers now knocking on the door of the finals picture.
The Tigers will have a significant battle on their hands in round six as they will return home to host 2024 premiers and this year’s flag favourites Murchison-Toolamba in round six.
