Tongala has logged successive wins in Murray Netball League, scoring a convincing victory over Deniliquin in round seven action.
Coach Grace Hammond was on the team sheet for the first time this season and was a welcome reinforcement, named on the Blues’ bench as she works towards a full return.
The first quarter was a close-run affair, but Tongala managed to capitalise on a few more chances, taking a precious 10-7 lead into the first break.
The Blues truly stamped their authority in the second, piling on 18 scores, while the Rams could only replicate their seven from the opening term.
With a healthy lead, Tonny was content with a tight third period which prevented Deni from making up much ground.
The Blues would edge the period by one score before rollicking to victory with an 18-6 final period in an impressive 56-29 over.
Consecutive victories put Tonny (3-4) back within reach of the top six, the eighth-ranked Blues within a game of the fifth-placed Rams.
Another top-six test looms in this week’s fixture, when Tongala will visit Mulwala (5-2).
