Bombers captain Aidan Robinson and young gun Archie Watt are excepted to be named in the GVL side for the clash at Wangaratta.
Both Robinson and Watt have earned their chance to represent the GVL for the first time with consistent form for the unbeaten Kyabram this season.
The other Kyabram player tipped to play in the game is ruckman Zac Norris, who represented the league with distinction two years ago when the GVL lost to the O&M League at Mooroopna.
He is expected to share ruck duties with the reigning GV Morrison medallist, Shepparton’s Ash Holland.
Kyabram’s Anthony Depasquale was named in the original GVL squad but has had to withdraw because Werribee, the VFL side he has been playing with, has asked him not to play.
Two Kyabram players who would have been ‘walk up’ starts to gain selection in the team, Mick Mattingly and Kaine Herbert, are also both unavailable.
Triple premiership winners Echuca had eight players named in the original squad but only star key forward Hugh Byrne is expected to be available for selection, with injury ruling out the other seven players.
The GVL will name a young side for the encounter, which proved a winning recipe when the two leagues met last year when the GVL was coached by Morrison medallist Mark Lambourn.
Dale Osborne has taken over from Lambourn for this Saturday’s assignment.
