The Wombats prepared for the game with a hard-earned 30-point win over a competitive Dookie United outfit at Dookie on Sunday.
The game was played in drizzle for the first quarter but the weather cleared up as the day wore on.
So did Lancaster spearhead Jake Mills, who made a welcome return for Lancaster and proved the difference between the teams on the day with a seven-goal haul.
Live-wire Jamie Scapin was also a multiple goal-kicker for the Wombats with two goals.
Main prime-movers for Lancaster were Zac Cerrone and Kyle Kydd in the midfield, while Nic Ryan at centre-half forward and ruck was also prominent.
Lancaster’s defence was under siege in the third term but was generally solid and led well by Noah Sewell, Lachy Boscarin, Luke Davies and Luke Donnell.
Coby O’Neill also had another good game in the ruck while Tom Johnstone, Ethan Batey, Jye Limosani and Andrew O’Connor were good for the losers.
Lancaster still has several players missing through injury but hopes to get Charlie McLay and star midfielder Cam Simpson back for this Saturday’s game.
‘‘We need the win this Saturday to keep on the pace for a double chance so it’s a huge game for us,’’ Lancaster coach Tom Davies said.
