Equal on points with Avenel, the Wombats could yet join neighbours Merrigum and Stanhope in the top eight. Both the Bulldogs and Lions look to have done enough to contest the finals in late August.
Shepparton East and Nagambie dominate the competition and will play in a Kyabram district league netball blockbuster this weekend.
They are equal on 46 points apiece and also occupy the two top spots in the B-grade competition.
∎ Tongala was unable to cause an upset against top of the ladder Deni Rams on Saturday, but still sits inside the top four as the finals approach.
The club’s second ranked B-grade team scored a 29-goal win against the Rams, which is directly below it on the ladder.
∎ Kyabram’s B-grade Goulburn Valley netball league team secured an inspiring five-goal win against Mooroopna on Saturday.
The Bombers sit neatly inside the top six as a result of the win, but finals are out of the question for the A-grade combination.
Kyabram looks set to feature prominently in the B-Reserve finals, sitting fourth on the ladder with nine wins to this stage of the season.
