Returning home after their road trip to Violet Town, the Wombats felt right at home at Lancaster Recreation Reserve, slotting six majors in the opening quarter to kick-start their day.
Meanwhile, Longwood wasn’t completely out of it, still managing two goals in the first term, the disparity 24 at quarter-time.
While the Redlegs added another goal and a handful of behinds to their total, it wasn’t enough to dampen Lancaster’s red-hot kicking form, with the hosts booting another six goals before half-time.
Howling the visitors to just two minors in the third period, the Wombats drilled the nail in the coffin, despite having their most inefficient kicking stretch (4.2).
Knowing the game was all but over, Lancaster finished its day with just 2.3, which was almost exactly Longwood’s quarter total to finish off the game (2.2).
The final score was Lancaster 18.7 (115) to Longwood 5.7 (37).
Morrie Serra couldn’t be stopped in front of goal, nailing a whopping seven majors throughout the contest, with Archer Guinan providing a nice cameo (4).
The usual suspects all made their way into Lancaster’s best-on list including Serra, Shannon Fleming, Adam Lovison, Daniel Foley, Nicholas McAuliffe and Blake McAuliffe.
With the one-point loss to Shepparton East the only blemish on their season, the Wombats are in that top-tier of teams and will be in for a good challenge in round eight when they take on surging Rushworth.
