Goulburn-Murray Water has closed the lake over the new year’s period since 2014.
This came at the urging of emergency services following several unsafe situations that occurred at the lake.
G-MW water storage services general manager Jon McKeown said keeping community members safe was always front of mind for G-MW.
“This temporary closure is one way we have maintained safety at Greens Lake,” he said.
“We will continue to work with emergency services to ensure all visitors stay safe at the lake.”
Greens Lake will be closed from 10am on Wednesday, December 31 and reopen at noon on Thursday, January 1.
Members of the public who are camping at Greens Lake before the closure must remove their camps before leaving the area.
“All visitors must also take their rubbish with them,” Mr McKeown said.
“This requirement applies all-year-round when the lake is open.
“We appreciate people’s continued cooperation and wish everyone a safe and happy holiday period.”
