The current Goulburn Valley Water managing director, Dr Capewell will take up the role on July 6, ending his five and a half year tenure.
His start date will allow for a smooth handover before Ms Quick departs at the end of the month, ensuring continuity for the organisation.
Goulburn‑Murray Water chair Justin Hanney acknowledged Ms Quick’s contribution, thanking her for guiding the organisation through a period of change while maintaining a strong focus on service delivery and organisational stability.
“On behalf of the Board, I would like to sincerely thank Charmaine for her leadership, professionalism and continued commitment to supporting Goulburn‑Murray Water through this important transition,” Mr Hanney said.
Mr Hanney said the G‑MW board was pleased to secure Dr Capewell as Ms Quick’s successor, pointing to his strong regional and industry experience.
“Following a rigorous search process, the Board is confident that Steve is exceptionally well placed to lead Goulburn‑Murray Water into its next chapter,” he said.
“Steve brings a strong understanding of the complexities of the water sector, a clear focus on outcomes, and a genuine appreciation of the vital role our people play in delivering services that support regional communities, agriculture and the environment.”
Dr Capewell said he was pleased to be staying in the region as he takes on the new role.
“It’s an exciting time to lead Goulburn‑Murray Water amid the challenges and opportunities facing the water sector,” Dr Capewell said.
“The organisation plays a vital role in supporting regional communities, and I look forward to working with the board, staff, customers and stakeholders to build on its strong foundations.”
Mr Hanney said Goulburn‑Murray Water looks forward to welcoming Dr Capewell and introducing him to staff, customers and stakeholders over the coming months.
