The pseudo South Aussie now calls McLaren Vale a second home - for at least part of the year - with Adelaide Hills-born professional cyclist and partner Tiffany Cromwell.
And with a famous mullet-and-moustache combination as his trademark, Bottas has adopted a few local customs ahead of the season-opening Grand Prix in Melbourne.
"It's been amazing. I really love the lifestyle in Australia; the weather, the food, you name it," Bottas said.
"I think I've picked up some habits. I do love a meat pie. It's pretty good.
"If I do a U-turn I always do a 'uey' ... things like that. Simple things."
After sitting out last year as a reserve driver with Mercedes, two-time drivers' championship runner-up Bottas returns to the grid with the new Cadillac team that debuts in 2026.
The 36-year-old, whose 246 starts have resulted in 10 race wins and 67 podiums since his debut at Albert Park in 2013, is back with a fresh perspective and stronger appreciation for the sport.
"Even the press conference doesn't feel that bad today, but ask me again in Abu Dhabi," Bottas said.
"I definitely have a better perspective of the sport and will appreciate it much more than I did two years ago, so hopefully that will help me."
Bottas lines up for Cadillac alongside Sergio Perez, who he edged for third in the 2021 drivers standings to help Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes to the constructors' title ahead of Red Bull.
"I've been battling with 'Checo' (Perez) many, many years," Bottas said.
"Our focus is now on building a strong team, helping out the team, ideally putting the team first and going from there.
"Because if me and 'Checo' we both want results, the best way to get there is work together and push the team forward."
As an added bonus for Bottas, a reset of technical regulations this year means he won't have to serve a five-place grid penalty that stemmed from his final race as a Kick Sauber driver at the end of 2024.
"Apparently it's vanished thanks to some new regulation, so no grid penalty. It is good," Bottas said.
