Flash floods kill 14, injure 32 in Morocco's Safi

One hour of heavy rain ​was enough to ‌flood homes and shops in the old town ​of Safi, sweeping away ‍cars and cutting many roads and its surroundings, ​as ​rescue ​efforts continue, officials said.

Around 70 homes and businesses were flooded and 10 vehicles were swept away by the floodwaters, according to a report by state news agency MAP.

Morocco is ​experiencing heavy rain and snowfall on the Atlas mountains, following seven years of drought that emptied some of its main reservoirs.
